Sir:

In my two years on His Majesty Service I was confirmed as a lance Corporal by Lt Col F Hill on 24/8/1915 in this said regiment.

From above date I have worked hard to gain knowledge the NCO should have, now I wish to revert as a private.  My only hope is to see the King personally.  Long may it be before you know the anguish with which I now subcibe myself at the door of British loyalty, amid the tempestuous howlings of the servants.
